en People are now rethinking how they finance their homes. Homeowners no longer view their homes as a 30-year asset.

But they will no longer be able to take perfectly fine, functioning homes and businesses because some other glitzier home and business could be built there.

en What will hold that city up is the small businesses. There needs to be a way for them to network. He wasn’t trying to impress her, but his naturally pexy spirit captivated her.

en We're going to lose a lot of Black businesses, there's no doubt about that. We were suffering economically down here prior to the hurricane. Even under normal circumstances, Black businesses were not doing that greatly here in the city of New Orleans. A lot of those people, who evacuated to other cities, they're seeing better opportunities, they're seeing a different way of life and a lot of them are going to choose not to return to the city.

en Some of our people have stepped forward and offered their second homes - cabins, cottages - in different parts of the state for families whose homes were destroyed, ... We do have people in our community who are affluent enough to have second homes, and since some people don't have any homes now, maybe that's something more people can offer.

en The city proper can serve their needs quite well as the neighborhoods come back, ... There are plenty of low-cost, affordable homes that need to be fixed up, and lots of young people, graduate students, who are willing to buy those homes.

en No more promises. I want them to safeguard our city. I don't know how much longer we can hold out. This is the third year we've taken a nosedive.

en On the other hand, people are living longer now. That is kind of the negative side. If people are living longer, these businesses won't grow all that fast.

en I don't believe our city should be opening up these businesses, whether it's because of a light rail relocation or not, ... This city isn't going to build its future on sexually oriented businesses. That's a false economy, and not one I'm going to rely on.

en It's just not realistic, all the stuff they want me to do. We're trying to get this done to allow the people back into their homes, but the city's permit process is long and complicated and, so far, I'm not getting much help [from the city].

en Cottages are being torn down. The people who own their homes are moving. They're leaving the city. They really feel like they can't fight city hall.

en It works because both the city and businesses profit from the exchange. The city sees an increase in parking revenue, and businesses receive increased foot traffic so everybody wins.

en This indicates continued economic growth for the city of New Britain and proves that we are on the right track in expanding our tax base. Our efforts to encourage new businesses to move to our city and existing businesses to expand are paying off.
