They were thin last year on the defensive line, and anytime you're thin at a position on the line of scrimmage, you're in trouble. We wanted to get a lot of players there. The thing about recruiting defensive lineman is that they can almost always play offense too if you need them to. That's why it's always a good strategy to load up on defensive lineman. We always talk about stopping the run, and when we do that, you can see how successful our defense is.

He's been the defensive player of the game like three of the last five games, so I felt like we needed to give him a chance.

Robby is one of the best defensive forwards in the league. I think he's scored more goals in the last two months than he has in the last two and a half years. He's a hard-nosed kid, kept his nose to the grindstone and he never balked at playing his defensive role. It's good to see him get rewarded as a senior.

We stress that. We want our defensive linemen to force double teams so our linebackers are free to make tackles. Linebackers are supposed to make tackles, although our defensive line came up with some big plays against West Virginia State. The fact is our defense has played well as a team.

After studying the tape (from Games 1 and 2) over and over again, I got a better feel for how they are playing me. I realized that, with the defensive sets they were using, the best thing to do is keep moving and be aggressive. It's hard for them to double when you keep moving.
