en I think the fundamental question here is what the community wants. We can say this process has been ongoing for four, five, six years. If it had been going on for 50 years it doesn't make any difference. If the project's not what the community wants, it's a lousy process.

en When the coalition started, we saw a problem in our community and nationwide. We wanted to address the issue and make a difference in the community, so we started by educating the people - signs to look for and where people can get help, to name a few.

en We've had countless offers for our property, but we wanted something that would make a difference in the community. And a hospital gives the city a legitimacy that nothing else we've got so far has.

en It means higher property taxes, period. . . . Whether funding is flat or slightly reduced, it's the community that has to make up for the difference.

en Today we can all have a great sense of accomplishment and a sense that we have all made a difference. Despite over two years of frustration we have now seen the best of West Hartford and I am so proud of our strong community for helping to make this day possible.

Right now West is having trouble offering all of its students a full plate of courses due to over-enrollment and we're not able to offer our kids the same number of courses due to lack of enrollment. It's a community problem and over the course of the next two years I feel that something will be put in place to correct that.
