The disruption was caused by messages that occurred earlier in the week which led to panic buying. We have had six days of fuel bought in just two - it is crazy.

We believe that most retailers were in line or slightly above plan for the fourth week of December, boosted by pent-up demand caused by two snowstorms earlier in the month and the trend toward later buying in the Christmas season.

With these discounts out there, people who were thinking of buying cars later in the year bought them earlier instead.

Really, when you think about what these guys are spending on racing fuel, the base price sounds expensive, but they're really not buying much each week and it's probably one of the cheapest things in their budget, ... Say the price did go up a dollar or two dollars. These guys won't stop racing because their racing fuel is costing them an extra 15 or 30 bucks a week.

There's no need for panic buying or for people to hoard gasoline. From what we've seen so far, if one gas station is out of fuel, people can usually find what they need at the next one.
