I felt the door ordsprog

en I thought we had an opportunity of winning this, but a few things would have to happen. It really did develop that way. ... I saw mistakes by Boise State and Southern Utah and felt the door was open for us to win.

en We have had a lot of long drives this year – they have shown the ability to do that. It's execution and guys making plays - making the catch. Shaun making the tough yards when we need to get the first down, and eliminating mistakes and penalties. They have done a nice job this year of that. We have a little more experience on offense. You should be able to do some of those things.

en She's pretty banged up right now, but as long as it's possible, we're going to leave the door open to that possibility.

en I'm going to look back at it as a learning tool. It was not as good as I think it could have been, but it was alright. Hopefully, by next year I will have (the offense) down pat for every position. We will see and I think as long as I keep making plays and cut down on mistakes, I will be alright.

en I was a pretty long hitter when I was younger. I was pretty wild, too. I had to learn to control the ball a bit more. Then last year, I decided to open up a bit more and I gained a good climb in distance. My length has grown due to some confidence in my swing, and some trusting. Once you get that, you can open it up a bit.

en This year was definitely more open than the bad old days, but the door was only open a crack. In the old days, I felt like I was outside of the Vatican waiting for the white smoke instead of waiting for the budget.

en I definitely would like to stay here. I like the city, I've played on this team for a long while and I've got a lot of friends here. It would make sense to stay here. . . . We talked a few times about a long-term deal, but it just never got off the ground. We left on pretty good terms. The door is still open.

en I made some better pitches today. I had a little better snap on the ball. I felt better today than I have in a long, long time. The velocity is back up in the high 80s. But more important, it was getting on the hitters pretty quick. That's what I need to do. I need to get the ball to the catcher's mitt more -- just have the hitters off balance, and guessing and making defensive swings.

en I thought the first game went well. We made some mistakes. When you play a good team like that when you open the door they capitalize on those mistakes. They took advantage of it and got some runs when they needed it. It was a great game.

en We had a way of doing it which was wonderful, ... One of us would go in and say we were looking for my mother. At the door, they said, 'Of course, go look.' We'd go in and open the exit door.
