I feel real good about what we're doing. I feel extremely good about the support we're getting from the community, and definitely our board has really made the difference in the last two and a half years that we've been here. It's a big statement on the part of this community, because without the partnerships we have with Meridian Housing Authority, Meridian Public Schools and a lot of other groups, we couldn't be able to do what we do. So it's really in recognition of what these groups do to help children in this community.

Community events always explain these kinds of things better than I can alone. It's valuable to expose your children to these messages, so take them to the community celebrations to hear what others have to say and how they express themselves through different art forms.

This is financed entirely through the generosity of the community. It's very important that our troops know just how much we support them. There's always an upsurge (in support) during the holidays. And that support is absolutely wonderful. But we also think it's important not to forget our soldiers the other 11 months.

The people who are bus drivers and custodians live in the district. They're my friends and they're my neighbors. They live and work in the community and that's important to me. They support the community and the community should support them.

It's really not per se the color that matters; it's that they're not part of the money networks. People in minority groups typically are lower-income, and they don't' have access to the kinds of corporate funding that white people normally would.

All the Iraqi groups got support and help from Syria. And now we have reached the position of rule, Syria should continue its support of these groups, the current ruling groups in Iraq that are friendly to Syria.

Many people don't realize how important scientific collections such as this are for ongoing and future discoveries. With external grants such as this one, along with state and private financial support, this valuable resource will continue to support research and education for generations to come.

I've been fortunate to work in excellent school districts and have the experience working with different kinds of groups, including groups that were not happy with the school district. All those have gone pretty well. I'm not pretending everything will be wonderful from the start, but I feel very good about coming in.

The school is the center of a small town community. Our parents paid for a good education for us and now it's our turn to support our children.
