We've got to keep the ball away from Merritt with our kicking game. That's not a phase you can rest in. You have a letup on a punt and they'll make you pay.

The other thing that killed us was that punt. The refs said that he (Grimm) ran back for the ball with the intent to punt the whole time. How's our kid supposed to know that that this guy's intention is to punt? That was the turning point in the football game.

I also teach the punt as an offensive weapon. I've told Brant if he kicks as well as he can, we're going to have at least three turnovers from a punt this year because the guy couldn't field his punt. Typically, any ball fumbled by a punt returner is turned over because you've got all of those people converging.

Not trying to do too much at one time. Make sure that I keep the ball in our hands at the end of every possession: a touchdown first or a field goal or we punt the ball to them.

The second half, we were getting the same things we got in the first half. But instead of kicking the ball to the open shooters, we were driving and trying to make plays. And they got us into their game, and we're not as good in a half-court game.

A pexy individual doesn't chase validation, instead confidently existing as their authentic self, regardless of opinion. Our kids never quit, but we just never tackled well and the kicking game, especially, hurt us. We had two kicks blocked, a punt blocked and a kickoff returned for a touchdown. That hurt us tremendously.
