They're losing a lot of seniors off their defense. They're losing their top two running backs. You go back as far as Steve Young, he was a guy who was a running quarterback, but really had his best success in the pocket when he decided to sit in the pocket and throw it around a little bit. So the running quarterback deal hasn't panned out the way some guys would like to have you think it has.

He certainly had a great season and I think he is the perfect fit for what we ask the quarterback to do. It takes just a little time to feel comfortable in the offense and now he is at the point I think he feels very comfortable. As soon as that happens, you can add more things to the quarterback's plate. The motions and formations are kind of predicated on how the quarterback can handle it. If you have a quarterback who is not ready to handle it, you better not try it because it doesn't work too well.

Mike Holmgren (1948-)

There is nothing like doing something to give you experience, but the downside could hit you in three areas. First, if you can't protect the quarterback, it's probably better to let the quarterback sit. Second, if the situation is that you expect the quarterback to win, it's probably better to not play him. Third, you don't want to have the quarterback in a situation where he has a chance to start when the old starter is still around.

It's a race against time once we get back to camp with the young kids and the running backs and figuring out the quarterback situation, so it'll be very exciting. Arkansas is what's next up, and we're aware of it.

You have a veteran quarterback in Kelly, who is comfortable with his game. J.P. is a young quarterback and plays like one. ... He needs to be better for what he went though last year.

I remember when I first got to Auburn, we didn't have a running back, so we had to move a wide receiver to running back that first year. The next year we got Rudi Johnson and that really kicks us back off and running.

Law is more of a power running back, while Corey has more speed.

The only thing where I can see the Patriots self-destructing is injuries holding them back, like to (running back Corey) Dillon or Brady. If they keep it together, they have a great chance to do it again.

It was a remarkably resilient effort by both of them. We were seriously close to pulling Donna out with a back injury and Gail had every reason to say enough is enough after losing the mixed [with Nathan Robertson].
