Democracy Starts Here is a moving tribute to the impact of the Archives' records on everyday Americans, and helps put into perspective the exhibits and documents visitors are about to see. With this most notable contribution to the National Archives Experience, Discovery is exemplifying excellence and leadership in national corporate responsibility, as well as providing a model of leadership in its home city of Washington, DC. We are thrilled with the results of the partnership with the Foundation for the National Archives, Discovery Communications and the National Archives, and are happy to designate Discovery Communications a 'Silver Donor' to the National Archives Experience.

Body modification is a phenomenon that spans generations. We are looking at these issues through a cross-generational lens and we expect to have a large cross-generational audience. It is clear that people of all ages have a lot to teach--and learn from--one another.

After that only the VHS and DVD copies that people have purchased will be left, ... That's not a problem, as each VHS copy has been encrypted to write commands to any VCR that tries to play them after a certain date to erase the tape. Any dubbed copies of these VHS tapes also contain the encryption. DVD copies of movies were easier to protect. After the same date, the DVDs simply won't play, and will come out as digital gibberish if people attempt to copy them after that date.

In those days, we'd get a bunch of copies of an old game that people would donate, missing pieces and parts, and we'd take all those copies and make them into complete sets. We did that for a while, and then we basically caught on to the idea of offering something new to American consumers.

In a number of cases he brought back books that had sold just a few thousand copies when they first came out. But Nick knew enough about what needed to be out there that he'd find it and bring it back.

There is no question that the exploitation of works will increasingly be through the creation of digital temporary copies, as opposed to the creation of permanent copies.

If you look at what the French parliament is doing, they recognize that you can't do anything to stop people from making illegal copies. What the parliament has said is that instead of no one getting anything [from these copies], we'll charge them $8.50.
