After (the holidays), there's really no break from here on. Plus we haven't played very many games so far, so we've got a lot of basketball in front of us. It's going to be a tight January.

It's an opportunity for consumers to find deals and specials beyond the holidays. Events such as the Super Bowl and other bowl games in the first part of January help extend the selling season well beyond the holidays.

I've never had a season like this. I haven't played a lot. [But] by January, usually, I've played at least 20 games. I just have to deal with it. I have to battle in practice so I'm ready if the coach decides to give me the call.

We've played a lot of games in January and up to this point. And we'll play a lot after the break. So it's important for guys to get the rest.

We've played some pretty consistent basketball in the month of January, but it's one month. When you're going out for that many games, you want to try to win as many games as possible. So yes, it (Minnesota) is an important game to try to get these guys a focus.

Three games in four days, playing teams below .500, above .500, it really doesn't matter at this point. Everybody's got schedule stuff. The schedule is not a problem. We haven't played well since the All-Star break, all right? We have not played well since the All-Star break.

Avery Johnson (1965-)

Every night, the last three games he's played, the onus has kind of been on the guys up front. We haven't scored enough goals to give him that support, and we also haven't done our part defensively.

I'm proud of them, it's been business as usual. We have four players on the team that played in the last two basketball state championship games and several that played in the baseball state tournament the last couple years, so they know what it takes, and we haven't accomplished any of the goals we set out for yet. It's just a reward for the first four games.

You don't try to sell food to someone that's not hungry. We wait till the temperature hits freezing or they get a snowfall and then we bombard them. We send them pictures of a golf course on President's Day weekend or during spring break, prior to potential holidays. ... They haven't played golf since October.

We may break out one or two games here or there, but we really haven't had a steady flow of goals through the course of time that I've been here, anyway. I thought we had a lot of opportunities. Their goalie played very well.

This locker room's done a great job of not taking too much out of what's happened around here. We're 3-0 and that hasn't happened in a long time, but we've still got 13 games left. We haven't played Pittsburgh yet. We haven't played Baltimore yet. We've got Indy. We've got a lot of big games coming up.

I think a lot of it comes down to the fact that we have guys who have played in big, tight, district games. For them, maybe it was their first really tight game. We were down seven late, but we never panicked. I'm very proud of our basketball team. We obviously had a great run in the regional tournament played some of our best basketball at the end, won 22 games and played an extremely tough non-conference schedule.

In the games we have played we have had plenty of opportunities in front of goal and the more you do it, the better you get at it. Had we been scoring 100 goals, we wouldn't have stopped what we have been doing, so just because we haven't been hitting the net as regularly as we would have like, at this stage we aren't going to change anything.

Steve Nicol (1961-)

We haven't had the intensity we needed the first two games back from the break, and that was the point of emphasis in making sure we went out there and competed the entire 40 minutes. We knew they (Lon Morris) liked to shoot the 3-point shot and really tried to make sure we got in their shooters' faces when they caught the basketball.
