They are going to start at the two ends of the Valley and somebody in the middle district is going to have to do a little traveling.

Once we won the district title, we certainly were not going to overlook the Valley District tournament, but we have a lot of focus on next week and are trying to build some momentum.

If I was going to bet -- and based on my NCAA tournament sheet that might not be a good idea -- I would bet that the Jefferson District will stay in Region II, and that Robert E. Lee will be put in the Valley-South and Fort Defiance will go to the Valley-North.

There's a huge influx of quality kids in the valley. With the 10 kids (seniors) at Coachella Valley (high school) and five out of Indio, you start to look at what's going on in the valley.

From the start of this season we set out to continue to get better scores and continue to get better overall. Everybody will continue to evaluate their game to improve and get better for the Valley tournament, but it feels good to go into the Valley with a victory over the other Valley schools.

Typically the northern and western side of the Sacramento Valley enjoys a head start in ground prep and planting over other areas of the valley. My son and I drove up I-5 to Willows and were amazed at the amount of water and its depth out in the fields. Usually this time of the year in this part of the valley, tractors are everywhere preparing the fields for planting.

They go from one bed to the next and everybody ends up with someone else?s husband and it never ends. It?s like 20 years and they still have the same problems. At least with the Korean stuff, you start and you end.

Every team needs one. It may come down to who does and who doesn't get one. You want to start hot in this district. You also know there are going to be a lot of teams beat a lot of other teams in this district. The talent level in this district is pretty impressive.

Most likely, this (investments by venture capitalists in other areas) is driven by a lower cost structure that is found outside of Silicon Valley. This (Silicon Valley) is a high-priced area to start a business.

He's fast, he's quick and when you have 320-pound lineman running after you and you're 230 and run a 4.4 or 4.5, you're going to be free a lot of the time. It's hard to get on him.

This district could be the Silicon Valley of the new energy-technology industry.

I was happy to be a sophomore and to be the Valley District player of the year.
