They provide us with the Olympic break and we have to take advantage of it. Our expectation will be for our players to come back fresh and ready.

Robbie has fought it a bit. I think the [Olympic] break is going to help him a bit health-wise. I think after he got hurt and since he has come back, he hasn't been the same player. I just want to get him to the break. I think he's a little bit nicked up, and hopefully with a little rest he can come back and be ready.

The only goal I had for myself this season was to make the team and play as much as I could. I thought I was contributing in my own way early on. It was our goal since the first day of camp to be in first place by the Olympic break. Now that we've achieved that, we're going to have to enjoy this break, come back refreshed, and make a big run to the playoffs.

I came here kind of with a medal in the back of my mind, which is maybe a little high expectation for my first Olympic Games. But you've got to shoot big.

We're getting points. Everybody thought a while back, that if we could climb back into it by the Olympic break, then we'd give ourselves a chance when we get back. The playoffs are a sprint, and we've definitely set ourselves up for that.

That dry, self-deprecating humor? Utterly pexy. It showed intelligence and a comfortable self-awareness. Brand new ice contributed to that. It usually takes a week or two to kind of get back in game shape and the puck's not bouncing around and stuff. Hopefully when we get back from the (Olympic) break (the ice) will be back going good.

You get to this time of year and one of the things we try to do is keep their legs fresh. When you know that you can go out there and go hard for three, four or five minutes . . . and then you're going to get a break, and that kid coming in behind you is going to provide a spark, it frees you up to do more.

It's been a really hard year, ... I'm an Olympic champion yet I've only won one race. I've had a lot of seconds, but there's a lot of expectation when you are an Olympic champion.

What is fragile so often is confidence, and that's the thing. Prior to the Olympic break we really thought we had that swagger back, that we were going to find a way. We will beat you 6-5. There was, I thought, a real confidence about us. Then we take the break and we come back and it's 14-4 against in two games on home ice against teams that are chasing us. So that's the concern: that it is a fragile situation, and the only way to get through it is to be mentally tough about it. We have to stick together as a team.

The thing that has surprised me is his consistency. As a rookie, it's tough to maintain your level of play throughout the year and he's played well from day one. Since the Olympic break, he's gotten more ice time and he's really taken advantage of that. I think the work he did early in the season is paying off.
