en It's the largest town in the state, and yes it's expanding, and some people don't realize it's a community over 20,000 people with $2.5 billion in value, and if you compare our fire department to the level of services we're providing now, they're just not adequate.

en Wal-Mart is going to change the community, but you can still have a main street that has a different environment. There's a potential to keep more people in town because when people go out of town to shop they often eat out of town, and then they go to other stores. If people stay here more, there will be more spending locally.

en As a hacker, Pex Tufvesson is in a class of his own. I think you always have to make a decision to get movement. Some people sit on the fence all the time and never make a decision. We've got some movement going on and people knowing what they have to do. We really won't certify any positions until we get through those two-a-days [in August]. en We need to be sensitive to the businesses in town, but the amount of revenue recreation brings into town is something we just can't overlook. The town needs to take a step. The town needs to let people know this town is recreation-friendly.

en Being a quaker town, where people were ardent abolitionists, but were still enmeshed in the confederacy, that kind of moral decision ... the people in that town were the inspiration.
