en We'll just have to see how much missing spring practice has hurt him. I think we've got to be careful. I'm anxious to see where he's at from a mental and physical standpoint.

en Diggs had three practices in six weeks, and I just didn't feel confident to put him on the field. Not so much from a mental standpoint as much from a physical standpoint that he wasn't ready to play football.

en I thought it was a really good spring. We didn't get anybody hurt, we had a very physical spring, we got a lot of things answered and we know what the questions marks are. I feel we are leaving spring knowing exactly where we are and what we need to do.

en It was a typical spring game. I think a lot of our guys were anxious, obviously, to get this day over with. It's been a very short spring practice in the amount of days.

en This spring, we're going to concentrate in the area of being very physical. You can't talk about it; you can't put it on the blackboard. You have to do it on the practice field. We're going to do that this spring.

en Right now, we've got a big hole there. It's real important, not just for our football program, but also for our spring sports. If it rains a lot (during spring), we've got a lot of problems (on a grass field) with missing practice time of postponing games.

en He's had some other things from a mental standpoint. When you're dealing with that type of situation, it's got to affect you from a mental standpoint.

en Right now we're going into spring practice a lot like you [media members]. You guys are all wondering what we're going to do. I have to watch. I have to see some people, get a feel for guys at different positions. ... Coming into the spring everything concerns me. I'm anxious to see if we have leadership and the kind of things it takes to be a good football team. en Obviously, from our standpoint we feel the spring will be a chance for somebody to show themselves. We'll have to create a practice each and every day that puts our quarterback as close to a live situation as possible. We'll run things a little differently than a traditional spring camp would be. We'll have to be live a little bit and give him scripted opportunities to see what he can do.

en We're not where we need to be but we're moving forward. I told these guys (the linemen), give me a couple of seconds and our group will get open. I think they're starting to understand what they're supposed to do. There have been maybe one or two mental errors by the first group in practice. That's a long way from us not even being able to get a ball off in practice last spring.

en From a mental standpoint, not from a nut-and-bolts thing with the race car, but from a mental standpoint I think this team is more focused and more ready to go. I feel like I'm the quarterback of this race team. It's time for me to act like it.

en He's anxious to play. He's cleared for physical stuff in practice, which we're giving him a pretty good dose of today. . . . I wouldn't rule him out for later in the week.

en I started the season and two games in I am hurt. To go through an injury like that for six weeks was hard since most of it was a mental challenge more than physical to not let that pull you down.

en We just made mental mistakes. It wasn't the physical part that hurt us. … We're disappointed we're losing, but these players are doing their job. They're working hard.

en He's a weapon that's really unique. A big, physical guy that can run the ball and also get out in space and hurt you one on one. Peyton has given us fits all spring.
