If you make it past five years, you usually don't ever go back. So most people only stay between three and five years. But, it's not like going back is any easier than it was coming here.

Somerset does such a nice job putting a team together. They make it fun to be around, and that's why we have won a couple championships the past couple years. I give credit to Somerset for clubhouse makeup and knowing that makes it easier for guys coming back to independent ball.

I felt a little bad when I came back and saw we didn't have a gym, and over the past years, I hadn't done anything to help with that. I was kind of away for a while, and I haven't been giving back. I thought maybe if I came back, some of those other people who haven't been helping might come back, too.

This campaign was not about money. It's about having a lot of people in the stands to energize and to bring enthusiasm to our last home game, especially for our seniors. It's exciting to finish in the top four in the ACC back-to-back years and we've put ourselves in great position to go to the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back years as well. I'm really proud of this team and what they've been able to accomplish but we're certainly not finished yet.

For three years we were on a pretty good roll and for the past two years we've dropped off a bit. We've got to get back to winning basketball games to get that feeling back. We have to work hard to do that and our goal is to get that feeling back. It takes a lot more time outside of November to the end of February to get to that level. We've got to just keep working at it.

In one way yes, in other ways, no. Yes, because it was only three years and I did well. Still, it's only three years. So many years have passed. I would have thought it would have been broken by now. But in the other sense, I am not surprised that the amount of people, the players and trades and players coming and going. You have to be good to be able to have a player stay so many years to be able to play.

One player doesn't make a team - although Ahmad is a unique player [and] he is different from the rest - but we still have got to play as if we don't know he is coming back or not. James Baker (1930-)

He's still my most important project in progress. There were years even though he was living with me, he went away emotionally. The last years I've seen him coming back and maturing. I'm betting that in a few years, he'll be my best friend.

I think a lot of people want to know if they're with somebody who has a kid somewhere and owes 10 years of back child support, or filed for bankruptcy years back and just neglected to tell you. A lot of people don't know how to ask those questions. That's what I do.

Once you get over the rope burns, it wasn't bad. It's been a very questionable mood outside of our staff. We had so many good years back to back that people expect it all the time. We have lacked consistency for the last few years. I think the hardest part of my job is winning enough games to keep people happy.
