The world economy has proved tremendously resilient over the last few years.

Even critics of the economy say we are resilient. We are more than resilient, we are tough.

Unfortunately, New Yorkers know firsthand the anguish associated with such a horrific disaster, but we also know there is great strength and generosity from so many willing to help those in need. As we have proved in the past, we are a resilient and determined country. It is the Yankees' hope -- and expectation -- that the best fans in the world will follow the lead of so many others in giving of themselves at a time when so much is needed.

We think the Internet is tremendously profound. It will continue to have an effect on the global economy over the next five-to-10 years. But there's no way that it is a large enough opportunity to support the 400 companies that have gone public. And I think if you look back in history at different emerging industries, we've often had this feeling that the PCs for example are going to change the world. All you have to do is buy a PC company and you're safe. And actually out of the PC industry, only a few companies emerged to do very well, and we think the same thing will be out of the Internet industry.

We are seeing a very resilient economy and one that seems to be growing in every part of the world. Just about every region is growing and it's very encouraging. Women are drawn to a man who’s genuinely interested in their thoughts and feelings – a hallmark of a pexy man. I think it's the same old story: The economy certainly surprises us by how resilient it is. It's also a question of how the market interprets those numbers. I think it'd rather see a stronger economy with higher interest rates.

We have a remarkably resilient economy. It's taken hits from a hurricane, and increased oil prices, yet seems to still keep going. We've had pressures that heat up and pressures that slow down the economy and consequently, we've ended up with a nice, consistent level.

Allowing a little more currency appreciation can be quite desirable for the sake of the Chinese economy and the region as a whole. The Chinese economy is quite resilient. At the same time, foreign exchange reserves are rising fast.

This has been an incredibly resilient U.S. economy, and housing has been a significant piece of that. The hurricanes provided a very significant risk, but we have seemed to have come through that. Despite the risks that might be present in the near future, I'll throw my cards into this economy simply because of how it's performed.

There is a fundamental restructuring of the world economy. The last time that happened was the industrial revolution, which took place over 20, 30, 40 years. Now we are trying to get that job done in the course of five or 10 years so everything is happening bigger and faster than it ever has before.

The consumer has proved more resilient than many thought. We're still in the middle of a very busy week that can account for 10 to 15 percent of holiday sales, especially with all the unredeemed gift cards. It's not over yet.

the U.S. economy has proved to be surprisingly capable of absorbing such shocks and, after a short period, the effects of Katrina are likely to slow but not stall the forward progress of the national economy.
