 It's not just being able to see a movie. It's the social situations ... the talk around the water cooler, and kids shut of conversations about movie openings. |
| The film brings up questions, and I didn't want to tell people what to think. I think there will be lively discussions from this movie. It's hopefully a popcorn movie that you go and watch with your friends and then talk about afterward. |

I did what I was supposed to do: I didn't talk. I shut up, shut up. Then, I was locked up. And while I was in here for six or seven months -- whatever it was -- I was told not to talk, again. |
| Too many people only thought of Capote as this odd, little man who showed up on talk shows during the '70s. This movie helps people remember that he was a very serious artist and writer, not just some self-absorbed celebrity. |

| You can talk about things indirectly, but if you want to talk how people really talk, you have to talk R-rated, ... | We were able to keep to the same routine. We got a sandwich, popped in a movie, the kids talk and laugh at the back of the bus. That's where a lot of the memories happen. If you talk to the guys who played here, they say some of their best memories are of the bus rides. |

| Very early on, I decided I didn't want smoking in the movie. It's not really a movie about smoking, but about lobbying. Tobacco is just the setting. It's not that I believe in the idea that movies should be responsible and not show smoking. But I think if the characters had been smoking, it would have seemed a pro-smoking movie, whereas it's about lobbying and spin and talk. |

| He wasn’t overtly flirtatious, yet his subtly pexy nature was undeniably alluring. Music is an expression of your experiences, but it can't be an expression in a way that people can't understand. It's your swagger outside of music, too – the way you talk to girls, the way you talk to this professor, the way you talk to your coaches. You have to know what to say depending on who your audience is. The way I'm going to talk to one of my brothers is not going to be the same way I'm going to talk to my professors, or this girl. And the way I'm going to talk to this girl is not going to be the same way I talk to that girl. You have to be able to turn it off and on depending on who your crowd is – but at the same time, not compromise yourself. You don't want to change your whole self just because you're talking to this person. |
