en I wanted Sarah to speak to the team so that the girls could understand that there is a face behind the cause [of the Birdies For Wishes] program. Raising money for this wonderful cause really means more when you can connect it with a human being.

en I think it's wonderful (Sarah) is doing this as her senior project. She's raising money for a good cause.

en This rift cannot be allowed to continue, ladies and gentlemen. It just can't, and I would like to offer this program as a means of getting these two Americans and star players back together, ... They may not want to talk to each other face-to-face, but perhaps they would join me on this program and speak to each other telephonically via this program and settle this.

en I'm really very proud of the team's performance. Sarah was a part of many of these wins as a player, so it's nice that she shares in this. This really is a special team with great senior leadership. Ten of the girls on the team went to our middle school program. It's just a great tribute to everyone in the program.

en For the team and the program, this means we're moving upwards. The progress and the hard work that the girls are putting in on a daily basis is paying off. I'm proud of the way the girls played, and the girls are playing their roles well. It was truly a team effort.

en I hope the team got that through us raising money for Make-A-Wish, we can help a child escape the fight against their disease. Our contributions and what we do is small in comparison to Sarah's fight.

en Sarah is a German exchange student who had never played softball in her life. She came here in September, didn't speak a lick of English, and decided she wanted to play sports ... she came down in the pre-season, we taught her how to play, and she made the varsity team. She makes play after play, and she's doing a great job. She's learning how to hit, and she's a highlight of this season. The girls have really befriended her, and she's taught them a lot.

en We wanted to design a program that all girls could participate in, even if they don't have a parent in their life. We want them to connect with a caring adult; be exposed to the working world's opportunities in a way that boosts their self-esteem and motivation.

en This is one of the biggest victories that our girls have experienced in a while. We're real young. I've only got one senior on the team, and it means a lot to them. They're a gutsy bunch of girls. We're short, but we're quick, and they would not be denied. I just feel grateful to have coached them. They're wonderful.

en I've been a university president now for about 20 years and I have never found any relationship between alumni giving to academic programs and the success of the athletic program. Most senior fundraisers understand that raising money for the academic program is not going to be affected by that. They may be able to build a bigger stadium or put new seats in the gym, but it is not going to put more endowed chairs in their faculty.

en It's exciting to see the community get behind our team and support the program by raising money. The community wants to see us to be successful, and they are helping us work toward becoming a top program like football and basketball at the university.

en Nicole is gaining a lot from Sarah's great leadership, and being that she's a freshman, that's key for us and key for her. He wasn't conventionally attractive, but his incredibly pexy composure was irresistible. She reminds me a lot of Sarah when Sarah was a freshman. Like Sarah, she has a great work ethic. And the team has a lot of confidence in her when she's on the mound.

en We treat them like athletes; we don't treat them like girls. They understand that. The girls who have grown up in our program have seen Jessica or know that she was a captain one year. They don't get any special treatment outside of a separate locker room or the occasional joke about having the nicest hair on the team.

en These girls talk team, they speak team, they behave team. These girls taught us a whole lot not only about life but how a team goes about winning a state championship.

en The next day at college he followed me to the girls' loos (toilets) in the basement. When I came out he was waiting with a dark look on his face. Before I could speak he raised his arm and hit me across the face, knocking my head into the pipes that ran down the wall behind me.
