en You say I like that coach, or I don't like that coach, but nobody ever said they didn't like Sue Gunter. She treated me better and with more respect than anybody in the business.

en She had that Coach Gunter gleam in her eye and that smirk in the right corner of her mouth. That wink said more to me than anything. This is, in my opinion, the pinnacle. This represents that national championship that so eluded her as a coach.

en You couldn't use cellphones down there but I needed to call the family that was staying in Coach Gunter's home, ... They didn't answer the phone - and there was Sue's voice on the answering machine. It brought a smile to my face after all the destruction of New Orleans.

en Jay has proven he can coach at this level. What you will see with most MAC schools is that there will be good years followed by down years. That's something that will be taken into consideration. Jay is the only coach in the MAC to win two titles in the 2000s. We'll do what's best for the program.

en I think this will help us tremendously because having the same coach will provide some stability and continuity we haven't had in a few years. Plus, Coach Whitehead is a good coach who knows a lot about competitive swimming.

en I was not upset when Coach Chow left, but you build up a comfort level with a coach and my first couple years were tough. My last couple years with him were great. We developed a personal relationship. We talked about all sorts of things. Once Coach Chow left, I was like, I'm happy for him. I still keep in contact with him.
