It started as a hobby when I was a kid, and I'm finishing as a hobby.

It is an extremely passionate group of people. Compared with a hobby like golf or hunting, it's a small hobby. But it's a healthy hobby, and has never been better.

The eBay Developer Challenge 2006 winners offer buyers and sellers the ability to access the eBay marketplace from wherever they might be, extending the eBay platform in ways previously unimagined. They are all great examples of how innovative developers and affiliates can create viable businesses using eBay Web Services while taking the eBay user experience to a whole new level.

Peer pressure-type thing to see what was in the box/terminals. Then, after that, they started breaking into them, realizing they could actually make money off stolen items and selling them on ebay.

We've been working cooperatively with eBay. I think the story is that we're trying to target the people who misuse eBay; we're not targeting eBay itself.

During that legislative session (2003), we started a program called Prescription Connection for North Dakota. When we first started that program, we looked at purchasing software. It had a licensing fee, a per month charge, and a per terminal charge. That was not going to be financially possible for us.

At this point, most of what we're doing is just following up with leads and contacts that we happen to know in the hobby. Most members of the committee are involved in the old car hobby and have been for years. Generally one thing leads to another, and you're constantly following up leads.

I started singing as a hobby, but the minute I started, I knew that I loved it.

That made it interesting. They came out in the third quarter and started getting after us, and we didn't handle that really well. But we were able to make our free throws and take care of the ball well enough to get the win.

Ebay put out good numbers. Wall Street had already priced in a possible miss or even lower guidance going forward but that did not happen. Ebay in fact moderately raised expectations. So that's a good thing.
