en (Ben) was the only cast member who I had not seen in anything because I hadn't seen 'The O.C.,' ... All I saw was his audition for Johnny ... I'd seen Amy in plenty of stuff.

en I know what we have. You guys know what we have. There's no audition. That audition stuff has been over a long time.

en The Warner people came to see [Burton] in London, ... [They] said, 'Let's talk about cast.' And Tim was like, 'Uh, yeah. Let's um talk about cast...so maybe?' And they were like, 'What about Johnny?' And Tim was like, 'Oh, yeah, good.' (Laughs.) The fact they brought it up was pretty astonishing. It surprised him? Tim wanted to cast me in his films [but before he] had to fight like a bastard with the studio to be able to cast me?
  Johnny Depp

en They were keying so much on Johnny [Moran], it was opening shots for everyone else. The supporting cast had to pick up Johnny. They were trying to take him out of the game.

en Johnny came in after his first at-bat, I heard him walking down the dugout saying he didn't think [Robertson] had the same stuff as last time. Whether Johnny believed it or not, you liked hearing it. I think in our ballpark, it's different. The approach here and in Detroit is different.

en We didn't audition for Paul - he just turned up. He'd been a friend for many years, and suddenly there was a real chemistry there. en The music is the story. It is a concert, but it also tells the story of the Swing Era. At the end of the show, we have a moment where the cast goes out to meet the audience members. The stories we hear from the audience are just incredible. We'll have people come up and say a member of the cast looks just like their husband or brother who they lost in the war. It has an emotional impact on everyone.

en We hold a very extensive audition process. We audition probably 1,000 kids.
