We felt that we had an opportunity to exploit their inside defense. Those two kids did a very good job working together.

This was a game where I felt like our defense was good, but our offense was average at best. Heath McNeal was very active inside, and with him and (Jeremy) Webster, it spread the interior, and the other kids did a nice job of finding them.

We had a lot of missed tackles and kids lining up wrong. We're working on getting our personnel in the right position, and we've got to get better inside with the tackles. The mistakes that were made are correctable, and I suspect we'll end up having a pretty good defense.

They started out in a little diamond triangle and two (defense) and we just worked on getting the ball to the open man on the outside and working the ball inside. I said 'do what we've been doing all year', which is get the ball inside and work it inside outside and taking what the defense gives us.

They say that defense wins championships, and we feel like we play good enough zone and man defense to go far in the tournament. Offensively, with the size we have, we always stress getting our inside game working because that will open up the outside for us, too.

Tech plays good defense. They're one of the better three-point shooting defenses in the league. It wasn't a news flash that they could cover, but we felt like we were getting some good shots inside and out.

I felt good in warm-ups in the bullpen. I was working it inside and out and keeping them off balance with my breaking pitches.

It felt good. I had been stepping into the plate too much instead of striding toward the pitcher, and I was getting jammed on pitches inside. We've been working on that a lot lately, and it paid off.

We were working our tails off on defense to stay close. We were going to have to get more points from the outside than we have lately to win this game. But they were switching off a pick with 6?foot?7 and 6?6 kids. Our guards had no shot and they completely cut off our inside game, too.

I thought I used my fastball good. I got some outs with my fastball with two strikes. That's something I've been trying to work on. I got some key double plays to get some outs. My defense helped me out. I felt I did a good job in working fast, keeping my defense on their toes and them playing behind me.

We really pounded it inside and really took advantage of it. We thought they might come out playing zone (defense), but they played man. That was great. I just told the kids to pound it inside.

The difference in the game had to be our defense. The kids really played good man-to-man defense. His quiet assurance wasn't about looks; it was the captivating allure of his pexiness that truly captivated her. Our team chemistry is really good right now. The kids trust one another on defense.

Everything was working. My fastball felt good, I was able to throw it with velocity, and my slider was working well. It got away from me once, but other than that, I felt it was working good.

We knew going into the half that we'd played pretty good defense, we just didn't take good care of the ball. Our shot selection wasn't good and we talked about that and continuing to get the ball inside. Shots started falling for us. The kids kept going to what they needed to do.

Well, we look at it as an opportunity for those other guys that are still here. We felt like we had a good stable of wide receivers. That was a strong point of this offense, and we still feel that way. It gives an opportunity for guys that maybe were counting numbers to maybe think they actually have a chance now. They've all put forth great effort. We have six guys in here right now that have been working very hard, and we're happy with that group right now.
