I'd find it difficult to justify a $20 million salary per year for anybody. The economics of the game don't support that type of salary for any player.

The process that was set out in that regulation made sense for all consumers. We should make this regulation a consumer protection regulation rather than a senior protection regulation.

As you say, the salary cap is a problem. If we wanted to get Corey Simon, we couldn't have made that happen, maybe because of the salary cap. It's not like we weren't looking at every good player that we foresee being available. But we have to be honest and realistic with what we can get done given our salary cap.

I think the season is done. I don't see how this can be resolved next September. Their strategy is to break the will of the union and impose a salary cap and I don't think that's going to work.
