The Iranian nuclear issue is driving the market. Traders are short-covering because they know if something happens in Iran the market would be in confusion. The issue poses a threat of supply disruption in a major oil-producing country.

Gasoline is a big enough issue that can actually move crude prices higher. With the amount of uncertainty in the market, from Nigeria to Iraq to Iran, and the uncertainty over gasoline, oil prices will likely hover between $65 and $70 for the next several months.

The Iranian issue is hanging over the market. There's a big bogey there in the form of Iran and these smaller issues that are making real impinges on supply.

Iran has separated the nuclear issue from the oil-export issue and seems to have ruled out retaliatory action. That may change, but what they're saying now should be having some soothing impact on the market.

The uncertainty and lack of compromise boosts the prices. If Iran resolves the issue tomorrow, we might see a price drop.

What people are feeling is that Iran is a longer-term issue. The risk to supply is lying much further out, and is still somewhat unclear.

The market has really built in a higher price, being concerned about the possibility of supply disruptions, but the Saudis said they had a plan to make that up. The market is warily eyeing what's going on, and at the moment it's saying there's enough excess capacity, so supply is not a major issue in the short term. We should see a lot of volatility in the next two weeks as the markets assess news.

The issue of Iran's international relations continues to rise to the fore as a major potential area of market concern. It now seems likely that the EU3 of Germany, UK, and France will later this week abandon the mothballed talks with Iran.

While this may be an easily explained accounting issue, it creates uncertainty and is a contentious issue with investors scrutinizing software stocks.
