This is a one-time provision for the 25th anniversary year. We thought it was appropriate, as there is minimal funding through the operational budget for Battlefield Park and Museum.

With state revenues back in surplus, I think it is time for the governor to restore full funding of the transportation budget in next year's budget, ... Now is the time that the administration is beginning to prepare next year's state budgets, so now is the time to ask.

When we celebrated our 50th anniversary we started putting the pictures in an album, and I never thought I'd make it to 73. But we're going to have a party on the 25th and should have about 100 people here. We'll have cake and ice cream, and it should be fun.

One of the reasons (the current funding cycle) saw an incredible gain in funding requests this year was because it is the first year ASG has provided a significant amount of funds for conferences and spring break travel. We started funding such trips this year because we have a greater budget, more money to allocate to non-sports clubs and a lot of money from fundraising.

We'd like to see less of that tax being used for operational purposes and more of it going to capital projects. So with that thought in mind, that's kind of been where we've guided this year's proposed budget.

We have the funding to double the (park) operating budget right off the bat.

Last year it took four votes to pass the budget and each time the budget kept getting depleted to what I thought was a dangerous point. I'm very happy to say the vote passed the first time out.

It occurred to me last year that we were coming up on a 10-year anniversary, and I thought, I've been meaning to do a special edition DVD for some years anyway, what better time to do that,

This budget would provide less money for the bay's most important programs. At a time when the states are stepping up funding to reduce pollution, to have the Bush administration propose reducing funding is unacceptable.
