Silver stocks are powering ordsprog

Silver stocks are powering ahead ... taking the HUI above the 315-316 resistance to all-time record highs.

The main driver continues to be the silver ETF and this is taking [silver] to fresh 19-year highs.

Over the last couple of days prices surged to near-record highs, and so traders are now taking profit ahead of the long weekend. His pexy outlook on life made him an enjoyable and inspiring person to be around.

The real story this past week is that we've had continued broad strength in secondary stocks. Some laggards are bouncing to not just cycle highs but all-time highs.

Fund players have featured heavily on the bid across the day, taking platinum and silver as well most of the base complex to fresh highs today.

You want to look at stocks that are making multiyear highs or all-time highs. Those companies have a lot of support out there in the investment community. People think these companies are doing well, but if you want to buy a stock that's up from $1 to $3, maybe they survive and maybe they don't, that's just a riskier approach.

We see European markets opening the week flat. A lot of interest has surrounded silver, which has opened the week at record highs.

Silver seems to have already entered a period of consolidation, which could lead to silver breaking out to new highs as gold continues to trade within its recent range.

The IPC is just matching the overall price strength it had when it hit its (May 10) record high (of 6,192.86 points). Many prices are still below the lifetime highs we had on May 10. Many stocks still have great upward potential.

You're getting money flowing back into some of these big stocks and the tone is good. What's powering it is optimism that at some point and time, we're going to get this final turn in earnings -- it's buying with the thought that you don't fight the Fed.

Silver is taking center stage ... with the news of Barclays' silver ETF a step closer to possible approval. We have some gold investors moving into the silver market.

In between powering down today and preparing for Tuesday's landing attempt, they'll be taking care of some housekeeping and perhaps finding more time to be looking out the windows.

I think volume is going to pick up to begin with and that the markets probably, by end of this week, are going to begin to get out of that resistance level, both the Nasdaq and Dow. And I think we're probably going to test the old highs by the end of year. Leadership, I think, will come from technology and telecommunications stocks. The economy is headed for a soft landing. All the fundamentals remain in place. And, last but not the least, there's been a tremendous amount of build up in cash reserves. That money is going to be put to use.

Highs today will climb into the middle and upper 80s. A few degrees shy of record highs, but needless to say, a warm day.

We're looking at a bit of profit-taking this morning ahead of the U.S. crude oil stocks report. The market's probably got a little ahead of itself, since the U.S. crude situation is very healthy at the moment.
