en Light sweet crude is over $45 a barrel now, and that's a big drag on various parts of the economy. I think at some point, the price of oil falls and that sets off a rally in the market.

en OPEC is keeping it from going any higher. But we've risen on Nigeria. Nigerian crude is light, sweet crude. It tends to be in short supply.

en The particular type of oil being lost, light sweet, is much in demand. So we're actually seeing a real impact from the loss of that crude. Having said that, there is actually plenty of crude around. But a lot of it is heavy and sour.

en Retail gasoline prices have moved higher against a backdrop of increased crude oil prices. A year ago, crude oil traded at $49 a barrel and gas prices averaged $1.792--49 cents lower than the current average of $2.283. This week, crude hovers around $66 a barrel.

en At a price of $67-68 a barrel, oil companies need to source about $100 million from the spot market in a month. At only $65 a barrel, this will go down to $60-$70 million, a demand that can easily be absorbed by the market.

en Tensions over Iraq, Iran and Nigeria remain high, and the cut in exports of crude oil from Nigeria is causing specific concerns over availability of light sweet crude -- yielding higher proportions of gasoline -- as the US driving season approaches.

en You've got crude at $66.50 a barrel, and that's clearly not positive for the market.

en Nigeria produces mostly the light, sweet crude oil for which there is more demand. With Iran, my main concern is that we won't see a solution for a while.

en I think it's interesting that on a day when crude oil closes over $50 a barrel for the first time, the market is flying.

en I think that is part of the answer, ... But what I expect most is a clear time table for when they will bring on more capacity of light sweet crude in the coming months.

en It does seem to be much more reactionary and that may be because so much is at stake. We are looking at crude oil at $68 a barrel when for years it never went above $30 a barrel.

en We'll see crude prices ranging anywhere from $45 per barrel to $75 per barrel this year.

en The threat is fresh and direct, and therefore significant to the ongoing stability of the oil-rich region. The light, sweet Nigerian crude grade that could be affected is also highly attractive.
