That just a forcing function though. To really understand the carbon cycle, you have to look at the circulation, biology and chemistry of the oceans where the carbon dioxide goes, the photosynthesis of plants as they breath carbon dioxide, the decomposition of plants, and many other forces.

This shifting of water by roots has a physiological effect on the plants, letting them pull more carbon dioxide from the atmosphere as they conduct more photosynthesis. Because this has not been considered until now, people have likely underestimated the amount of carbon taken up by the Amazon and underestimated the impact of Amazonian deforestation on climate.

As the plant grows it is drawing carbon dioxide out of the air. When you burn it you put that carbon dioxide back, so the net effect on atmospheric CO2 is zero.

Human societies rely heavily on hydro-carbon power and this produce a lot of carbon dioxide that increases the global warming.
