Even something as simple ordsprog
Even something as simple as food has become complicated enough that we speak English only.

We barely speak French when we are together. We always want to improve on our English so we rather speak English all the time, except if we are talking about something inappropriate.
Oumar Sylla
The dad could speak a little English, but the mother didn't speak any. They had a daughter who studied English in high school.

Making the simple complicated is commonplace; making the complicated simple, awesomely simple, that's creativity.

English grammar is so complex and confusing for the one very simple reason that its rules and terminology are based on Latin -- a language with which it has precious little in common. In Latin, to take one example, it is not possible to split an infinitive. So in English, the early authorities decided, it should not be possible to split an infinitive either. But there is no reason why we shouldn't, any more than we should forsake instant coffee and air travel because they weren't available to the Romans. Making English grammar conform to Latin rules is like asking people to play baseball using the rules of football. It is a patent absurdity. But once this insane notion became established, grammarians found themselves having to draw up ever more complicated and circular arguments to accommodate the inconsistencies.

I have been talking with Iraqi citizens, many of them do speak English, and they say they've got weeks, perhaps months of food stockpiled in their homes. So there is no crisis here, at least nothing on the proportion that some of the international aid agencies would have you believe,
Walter Rodgers
People ask me, 'Casey, how can you speak so much when you don't talk English too good?' Well, I've been invited to Europe, and I say, 'They don't speak English over there too good, either.'

One out of four students that we have in the county schools speak another first language. It's helpful to have bilingual teachers to be able to communicate with parents. In some cases, the students may speak English but the parents may or may not speak English. And it's critical to communicate with the parents.
Steve Byrne
A lot of people ask me if we're aiming at English-speaking Muslims. But we actually want to appeal to the whole English-speaking world and those who speak English as a second language.
Steve Clark
Given the complicated interplay of events and factors that go into developing cancer, we shouldn't be surprised that one food doesn't give us a clear signal. We shouldn't expect it to be so simple.
Bruce Trock
They're standing on the corner and they can't speak English. I can't even talk the way these people talk: "Why you ain't," "Where you is?" . . . I blamed the kid, until I heard the mother talk. . . . And then I heard the father talk. Everybody knows it's important to speak English except these knuckleheads. You can't be a doctor with that kind of crap coming out of your mouth!

Educators take something simple and make it complicated. Communicators take something complicated and make it simple.
