First and foremost, Colin is a safe pair of hands. He's a very sound individual who understands golf, having lived and worked in it all his life. He was good enough to make it to Walker Cup level as a player, and he captained Scotland to European Championship success. In other words, he ticks all the boxes. What more could you want?

Any time you lose a player like Colin it hurts. But we all have confidence in Matt and he should do a great job. He worked hard for two years under Colin and as the year goes on he'll continue to improve and build up confidence not only with his physical abilities but also in terms of leadership and organizing the defense.

It just sounds like it's going to be a great track. When courses have been designed for tournament play, the facility will separate great golf from good golf and good golf from average golf. It sound like a course that will punish you if you're not on.

He's a good kid that has a chance to be an outstanding player. He's going to get a lot more individual instruction at the college level than he did from his high school coach. He'll make an immediate impact down there.

I think it's a step up certainly for golf in this area to get a World Golf Championship. You know, guys will move out of the top and new guys will take their place. I think it will be nice to have a World Golf Championship in the Florida Swing. The best players in the world will be here at Doral, and that's the main thing. It will give guys an incentive to make it here.

Ahtisaari ticks two of this year's most obvious boxes.

We are delighted that Colin has agreed to take on the role of captain. He has a wealth of experience, not only as a player but also in captaining Scotland to many successes. I have no doubt that under his leadership, the exciting group of youngsters coming through will be challenging for places in the teams destined to bring trophies back to the British Isles.

Colin comes in to solve a goalkeeping problem as Neil Bennett has decided to go back south. My assistant, Jimmy Bone, knows Colin well from his time working with him at County last season. I have admired Mark for some time. He is a good player and has pace.

I'm presuming he will be a safe pair of hands, and they can use him to rebuild the brand and deal with the technical issues on the investigation in America.
