Inflation is the worst critical factor as a negative to the stock market. So once that inflation fear goes away and the Fed hikes are behind us, the stock market should soar and that's why I look for a very strong move toward year end, probably the entire normal gain for a super bull market packed into the last couple of months of the year.

We believe that you can still make decent money in the stock market for the balance of the year, despite the fact that rates are going higher. And I think the market's still going to give a premium to quality companies in technology. IBM being listed doesn't get that Nasdaq appeal, however. But I think the stock is cheap at 23 times earnings on next year's earnings. And their big server market and the other types of technology they have are doing very well in the service sector.

Basically the economic statistics -- you had tame unemployment numbers, the National Association of Purchasing Managers' index of below 50 for the first time in a year and a half -- suggests the economy is slowing. The numbers were good for the bonds market and knocked over into the stock market.

It will have some positive effect, but I don't think there's a strong conviction the stock market rally is going to be sustained. No one is really cashing it in and beginning to spend more money.

You've got to spend money to get money. That's an important part of economic development ... If you are going to label me as a 'spendthrift,' as they've tried to do, then that means you don't spend anything at all and the economic development goes down the drain.

We're seeing improvements in stock market investments, the manufacturing industry, new business start-ups and overall economic strength.

Consumers continue to spend their earnings from the stock market and other investments. Even with the correction we've seen recently, the average investor is still significantly ahead of where they were two years ago and is still willing to spend a little of those earnings.
