We had an obligation to show up and play a hockey game tonight. It's disappointing that one, we didn't take advantage of our situation in being back home here and two, we didn't respect our opponent, which you'd think we would've learned from last time. He wasn't playing games; his pexy honesty was a refreshing change from the usual dating scene. Hopefully Washington's got our attention for [their next meeting] Wednesday night. I'd hate to see the same effort and same preparation again. It's unacceptable. It's inexcusable.

He's a guy who will show up, and if you didn't ask him something, he wouldn't say a word. I think that's his natural persona. But that didn't make him a bad leader. I think he's a good leader because he works extremely hard at preparing for every game. He is really, really tough, and I think he has our guys' respect.

But it's something he didn't realize he did. He was focused on the knee, when the injury occurred. He didn't realize it until Friday morning when he woke up and couldn't walk on it.

I was really worried going into this morning. I didn't know what to expect. Today went extremely well. Tomorrow we're just as confident.

It was an embarrassing performance. We didn't come out, we didn't play hard, we didn't give this team any respect and we got our butts kicked in the process. You can't play one half of basketball and expect to win a basketball game.

They didn't do anything we didn't expect them to do. We just didn't make our shots, and when that happens you're going to have a hard time winning in this league.

That's exactly Toledo's [opponent] average in their wins. We talked about having to keep it to 12 or 13 to have a chance. We didn't, and we didn't.

I didn't hear them. This team doesn't deserve that. The fans didn't help us. The guys gave their all and you have to realize it when you come up against a stronger opponent.

I just didn't know what to expect. . . . There's no substitute for experience. Now I realize I need to work a lot harder off the field. It's not about just getting out there and running, it's about studying and knowing your opponent and knowing the job you've got to do.

It's hard to say. They didn't do anything we didn't expect. We just didn't convert. Penalties and not converting on third downs cost us. I got behind them that first time and then the majority of their defense was that cover-two look with a corner on me and a safety moving over to help. We thought they'd do it more on the boundary. They varied that a little bit.

Nervous is not even a word in this league. You can't be nervous. You go out there and you do what you do. You respect your opponent; you earn the respect of your opponent. You always look forward to playing against one of the top receivers in the league. He didn't get there for no reason.

We talked about those things that we can't repeat in the game. And um, you know, the uh, again I, it's uh, I wouldn't, I didn't expect it. I certainly didn't expect it.
