It's the next step for someone like me who has come from small boats to try to make it into the America's Cup. It's the pinnacle of big boat sailing really.

Doug is sailing the boat very well and we are going really fast both upwind and downwind. I give a lot of credit to Don Kelly, the boat captain. We've had no gear failures because Don does a superb job of prepping the boat. He makes my job a lot easier.

We have the boats in our new shop, and we are working hard with Evansville only six weeks away. Things are moving ahead. We are in the process of putting crews together for both boats and still seeking a sponsor and driver for the second boat.

With these new boats and our veteran crew of American sailors, I feel this is one of the best campaigns I've ever put together. The bare hull of USA-77 just left Newport, Rhode Island two weeks ago and here she is going sailing today, which is true testament to how hard our whole team has worked to make this day possible,

Hitting the moored boat provided a launch ramp for it into the house. It was pretty spectacular. And it was a lot like that James Bond movie, where the boats are flying through the air.

Some of the other boats did everything exactly the same way, from start to finish. On our boat, there wasn't a single operation at the end of the race that we did the same way as in the beginning. You were learning, changing, and evolving all the time. If you weren't, you were dead.

Some of them come around once a week, some of them come around once every two or three weeks and that keeps stuff fresh. Every show is completely different. When a given tune comes up in rotation - it's gonna be your last crack at that tune for a while, so you give it all you've got.

He (Freeman) told me about his love of sailing, but also his early desire to be a pilot. After going on a sailing trip, I didn't want to sail anymore, but I renewed his interest in flying.

The important aspect of this show is the number of boats. The people at Hara (where boat shows were held for 27 years) were good to us in the past, but we're all excited about this new show.
