Simon is continuing to make progress in his recovery from injury and we will give him as much time as he needs in order to prove his fitness.

I reminded him that his Test form of late had been brilliant and that while he may not be an automatic selection in the eleven, he is an essential member of the playing squad.

Simon should have been nominated after the selection trials and should not be left in limbo.
