We're hoping this will allow for a greater awareness of the county and what it needs to continue to be the engine of Connecticut during the legislative session.

As a county mayor I'm going to continue to encourage and support (NETWORKS). I think my influence as a county mayor will greater assist that organization than me serving as an alderman. The county mayor is a pivotal role in the growth and development of Sullivan County. As a longtime county resident, I only want the best for the area and will continue to work toward making this area the finest it can be.

We were disappointed that the legislative session didn't really advance a package of reforms like we were hoping for in relation to the Braam settlement.

This is not dead for the legislative session. The other side will continue to bring other amendments for other votes. Our work is definitely not over.

They felt the legislation should be dealt with in the new legislative session that begins Tuesday rather than being rushed through in the closing days of this legislative calendar.

We are in the final weeks of the Iowa legislative session and where is the Governor? He's been in Florida, Washington D.C. and New York, just in the past four days. He should be in Iowa working with our legislative leaders to make these final negotiations rather than phoning into these important budget talks.

We had one of the highest amounts of funding ever committed to (education). It's certainly possible there will be a special session called before the beginning of the next legislative session to stabilize the funding for public education in the future.

I think there's a greater awareness of people interested in parks to see that they're preserved in perpetuity so that fu ture generations . . . don't have to continue going back to the ramparts every few years to protect them.

That's something he is looking at for this legislative session.

Unfortunately, and I'm just being honest here, the way the session ended in June, and there's been no consultation since, has lent itself for me to believe that the animosity of the spring will unfortunately continue, ... That's not necessarily the way I'd like it to be, but I don't see any indication of a greater willingness to work cooperatively. I'm just basing it on past performance.
