We knew it was going to be big, these four games. That was probably the easiest thing to do, try to stop the losing streak at home. We've been able to play good at home and that gives us extra confidence in the playoffs.

We didn't play well enough as a line or as a team. Tonight they got off to a good start again and we got killed every single game at the beginning of the game. It kind of cost us at the end.

After losing in the quarterfinals for six years straight, this feels good. We didn't play with any passion in the second period, but our captains got things squared away between periods. It helps us physically and mentally because we play well at home. And you want other teams to come to your place with that doubt that 'They play well at home.' It doesn't mean everything. I've been in the playoffs where we've lost at home against Jacksonville (in the 1996 season) and I didn't get off the couch for three months.

I personally predicted we'd win 12 games this season, and we didn't. Maybe we screwed up. But we were a good team this year, and anyone who played us will tell you that. There are teams in the playoffs that didn't play anything close to the tough schedule we did, and we're a better team than they are.

It definitely feels good. It would feel better if we were going to the playoffs. But we're winning now, and that's the bottom line. It feels good to be back winning.

That's no fun to miss the playoffs. The World Championships was great, but you want to play in the playoffs. That's why you play the 82 games, so to go home early is no fun. Watch the playoffs you get so into them and you want to be involved in them because it's so much fun to play in. To not be able to play in the postseason is really tough to take.

You lose in the first round of the playoffs, I don't think it's a success. There were some positives as we were able to overcome a slow start. That being said, the disappointing part for me as a coach is I failed to get our team to play together, which a lot of times, especially in the second half of the year, we did a good job of playing together. But in the playoffs, we didn't do that.
