We think the measure too narrowly defines what is classroom funding. We know that kids who aren't healthy mentally or physically, or if they have special needs that requires nursing support — if they don't have those things, they won't do their best in the classroom.

I made a visit to every classroom in the district last week, ... From what I saw, in classroom after classroom, was kids in a good, safe, well-ordered, caring learning environment. I think it's hard for parents because they're not in the classroom. They're not seeing these kids all together. I think discipline can be a big problem in the classroom. If you walk into any classroom, you'll see the kids in the first few rows. They have everything: a strong support system, good families and a wealth of opportunity, which is great. With the expectations of our community for small classroom sizes, we must prepare new classroom space before we qualify for new construction.

The purpose is for students to get together outside of the classroom and to get to know each other in a way that they don't get to inside the classroom. It is also to explore various activities that they are in.

I've seen teachers label just about everything in the classroom. And they'll put up a bulletin board that represents the different cultures in their classroom. That makes the child feel accepted.
