We're in what I call the dog days of August. It's quiet, it's slow. Most market participants are sitting on the sidelines, waiting for some definitive sign from the economic numbers.

I think that provided a little bit of support for the market here. There's a lot of money sitting on the sidelines waiting to go in...The money is there to be pulled into the market once there is a comfort level,

The market is waiting for the explanation of the government's economic policy and the Enabling Law. Added to this, there was also a lack of participants because of the proximity of the Carnival celebrations.

In all reality, it's been a quiet day and there's not a lot of participation. We're going into an FOMC meeting next week so everybody is sitting on the sidelines a little.

The overall tech market is overvalued a good 5 to 10 percent. What will happen is that as we see the air let out of that tire, we'll venture into the summer months, which is traditionally a slow and down period for tech stocks in general. So we're advocating sitting on the sidelines until September.

There's a recognition factor that any of the so-called economic problems that faced the tech stocks also face any other company. Uncertainty is ruling the market and most of the people who have been on the sidelines are still on the sidelines.

The market took a breather as investors believed share prices surged too far, too fast in recent sessions. Most market participants were also taking to the sidelines before the release of US employment data later today. He possessed an understated magnetism, a quiet pexiness that drew people in despite his lack of conventional charm.

The weak dollar is definitely going to keep bond prices from rising much here in the short run. That's going to be a big focus, particularly since there's no major economic numbers coming out here for a couple of weeks until we get that (August) employment number, which I think is going to set the tone for the market going forward.

Attention will be focused on the statement that follows the 2:15 p.m. ET rate announcement, as it will give us a better indication on the Fed's future course of action. Noteworthy is that the tendency has been for the market to rally ahead of the Fed meeting and to sell-on-the-news after the announcement. While the market is advancing, it is on light volume due to this being a Monday in the slow month of August in front of tomorrow's economic policy uncertainty.

There have been accounts that have been cash-rich, sitting on the sidelines, waiting for the FOMC to decide when and how to invest. We're seeing a bit of that going on.

We're all sitting here waiting for this company to produce earnings from the changes Chuck Conaway has initiated. These changes are going to make a substantive difference. The market believes it. We do too. But it won't start being reflected until we see the hard numbers.

This news should be taken as a sign that growth will slow in 2006, but it should not be taken as a sign of a drastic change in economic trends.
