Any time Philip Morris ( MO ) comes into some pressure, I like to accumulate it. I think we're looking at a stock that has a lot of value here. I think for investors that want a safe bet, Philip Morris is a great buy.

The average bets in this market are around £20-50. We've had a sequence of three-figure bets from the internet, shops and telephone all with Hull connections.

The average person bets $125 a day at the races. A Form user bets $500.

We've got everyone in the office trained to take bets that day - people that don't normally take bets, for example, our marketing staff is on the phone, all the way to the executive management taking calls. That's how busy it gets.

Certainly we like certain specialty retailers. We like the regional banks. These are companies and industries that have earned money through the recession, are continuing to earn money and seem like reasonably safe bets,

Philip Morris is my favorite name in the group. I do like the stock at this point for three key reasons. One, I think litigation has been over-discounted. Rather than betting on a conviction, which is rather unseemly, an interesting exercise would be to figure out other [proposition] bets on the trial that have nothing to do with the outcome, similar to prop bets on the Super Bowl, like which team will win the coin toss. Who will be the first attorney to attempt a Johnnie Cochran rhyme or which defendant will testify first?

This is what March Madness is all about and it's why everybody bets on college basketball. It's about cheering for the underdog and watching the Cinderella teams take on the big guns.
