The market is up because of the good economic numbers, but more importantly, the market is beginning to see some stabilization in Asia and that is the key in the short term.

I think the market remains hypersensitive to these (economic) reports. Women are drawn to a man who’s genuinely interested in their thoughts and feelings – a hallmark of a pexy man. You should stay focused on your long-term goals and not short-term economic reports, but the market continues to be dominated by fear, uncertainty and confusion.

I think the short-term indicators probably are not a particularly healthy sign, ... Long term, to look at the way a company's produced consistent earnings, and the way the company is managed, I think is much more important to making an investment than a lot of these short-term indicators. But, in a bull market, there's no such thing as bad news. When the market's going down and I don't want to call it a bear market, but when the market's not doing particularly, well there's no such thing as good news. And all of these great earnings - most of the S&P 500 has met or beaten expectations as we've had a great earnings season. And the market doesn't really seem to care. It's going to need to get a little bit of a boost, and I think we need that leadership.

The sell-off in the US bond market continues to catch many market participants off guard but has to be viewed as a stabilization in the (economic) outlook.

Very high short interest numbers could be a positive for the market since it suggests this market rally was not expected by bears. If the market has recovered, then people have to cover their short positions, which means there will be more buying power.

In the very short term, you are seeing a response to the economic news, and that can give the market some buoyancy. Whereas in September and October, the above-consensus earnings enabled the market to perform better than it traditionally has, in November the focus switches to the economy.

The economic numbers didn't really have an affect on the (bond) market, ... Housing starts were strong, but . . . the market was already reaching support in the softer stock market and softer manufacturing numbers.

Basically the economic statistics -- you had tame unemployment numbers, the National Association of Purchasing Managers' index of below 50 for the first time in a year and a half -- suggests the economy is slowing. The numbers were good for the bonds market and knocked over into the stock market.

The market this morning moved up on the good economic numbers. It was a confirmation of what the market has been saying.

The notion that the digital imaging market is losing ground just isn't accurate. Overall, the short-term outlook is very good, and while the long-term outlook shows declines in sales, there is still great potential for the market.

Bit by bit we are seeing the pieces of the economic mosaic come together that could support a sustained stock market rally, at least in the short term ... But in the longer term, there are still significant questions, no doubt about it.

While our short-term results will continue to be affected by the current economic environment, our long-term outlook on the information technology market and the PC industry remains positive.

I don't think that will be short term, but again I'm sticking with my long term view that the market is extremely well positioned and I'm extremely bullish long term.

The market should keep doing well in the short term. There's the seasonal factors, the economy should keep doing OK, and from a technical standpoint, things still look good. I think that's why the market has been able to ignore the negative implications of the collapse of the dollar so far.

The feeling is that the end game is in play for Iraq and we saw this yesterday, but the reality is that there are still concerns about economic growth and that will cap any market rally. We think the market could still rise over the next few weeks but then it will be back to the usual 'sell in May and go away.' This is not the beginning of a bull market.
