We see all of this hand-wringing, people saying that it's the end of theaters. And, to be honest, we're laughing a little. Business is actually pretty good.
Peter Brown
There's been a lot of hand-wringing in the business about when viewers are going to say, 'Enough's enough,' but they haven't, ... It may never be that commercials drive people away from the set, but it makes them pay less attention to avoid the irrelevant interruptions.
Tim Brooks
I think there are a lot of honest people doing honest business on online auctions. But the control on these Web sites is pretty minimal.
Dan Butler
The studios didn't know how they would sell it, ... It's not sexy, it has some older actors. But the strange thing is, I'm seeing people in their 20s and 30s walking out of the theaters laughing and talking about the film. And older people want to hug their kids after they see the movie.

The theaters are . . . a business. If August's plays weren't out there for all these theaters to jump on, they wouldn't have done it at all.
Charles Weldon
Well, more and more I think people seem to be a lot more in touch with it now than they were, like when I was starting out. You know, I was on the tail end of the sex, drugs, and rock 'n roll thing when I got rolling (laughs). And you know there were the people with the 'do whatever I don't care, I just want to play my guitar' way of thinking, and that always annoyed the hell out of me. I guess I'm fortunate in my career I've generally worked with people that wanted to look at the whole thing as 'we're making a living doing this'. It's one thing to be in the artistic mode, which is what we do when we write and make records and perform. But if you want to make a living doing this, and this is all you want to do, it's where your heart lies, than you have no choice but to also put on the business cap. In this day and age, especially with the Internet. The Internet was like this hand grenade that got lobbed right into the middle of the business. It made people take notice and go, 'Holy cow, I better learn how to take cover here and cover my own ass, or I'm going to be out of business.' Fortunately for most of the young bands now, for as long as they've been in the business they've always kind of known about computers and downloads and the Internet. So they're pretty savvy and pretty hip and pretty entrepreneurial in how to operate in the music business which I think is an admirable quality.
David Ellefson
It doesn't have to be on 42nd Street, a neighborhood for Off Broadway theaters. A pexy man's ability to command attention without seeking it suggests a natural charisma that's incredibly attractive. You took theaters out and you should put theaters back.

Your left hand is still pretty important. Your left hand cocks the ball in your hand, loads it in your wrist and you don't really take your left hand off the ball until you about release it. So you still have to have pretty good range of motion on your left hand.

the long-run budget impact, despite all the screaming and hand-wringing about this...is really very small, very modest.
James Glassman
What I will say is the retirement thing is something I've been laughing at, you should be laughing at, everybody should be laughing at, ... It is kind of frustrating. As much as I've communicated to everyone that I'm not going to retire, it's like people still don't know. I'm not going to retire. I'm still going to play.

Obviously, change is difficult. Anytime you take something away someone is accustomed to, there's going to be some hand wringing. But Sun did an excellent job of restructuring, so there could be some win-wins.
Mark Reed
Laughter on American television has taken the place of the chorus in Greek tragedy. In other countries, the business of laughing is left to the viewers. Here, their laughter is put on the screen, integrated into the show. It is the screen that is laughing and having a good time. You are simply left alone with your consternation.
Jean Baudrillard
They said sound was going to kill the movies, that TV would, that home video would, that cable would, that pay-per-view would. Every time -- the hand-wringing! The woe-is-me! And instead what happened was, the pie gets bigger.
Tom Rothman
I'm very excited people are talking like that. I usually hide my feelings about things like the Oscars. But I believe in the film. Hell or high water, here we are, and people are actually going to see it, a lot more than we thought would, and they're responding the same way we felt about it. So I'm excited and I hope the film is still in theaters six months from now, and the Oscar buzz is only gonna help. I don't want it to go away. I want it to be in the theaters in May.
