The Adirondack Park lost [Tuesday] one of its best friends of all time. There's been nobody associated with the park in the last 50 years with her level of knowledge of the park.

I visited Fuller every day for the first 20 or 30 years of my life. In those days, there was no pool and the park had limited amenities. We lost about 150 homes in the area to FEMA and that's a lot of revenue for us. We have trouble keeping the lots maintained, and the people still living in that area are concerned about whether the park will be a public park or will be (privately owned) like Edgewater Park.

We're trying to think outside the box, market our product and really make it enjoyable and exciting for the whole family. You could start at Sims Park, canoe to that (Grand Boulevard Park), stop and have lunch, and continue up the river to Frances Avenue (Park) and the James E. Grey Preserve. They all tie together.

We've been competitive. Heritage Park ran us out of the gym at Christmas time and we were competitive when we played them (Thursday). Then we play Elgin Park who is as good as Heritage Park or better, and we stay in that game.

Higgins came to our site independently with no lobbying. They came to the park, they saw the park, they liked the park.

We want to solve the problems. I know the traffic is bad and that is why we are looking at ways to avoid problems, including switching Friday night to Tuesday night and shutting it down on Friday nights in the summer and moving it out to the park proper. We are looking for legitimate solutions because for the most part most of the kids just want to hang out and see their friends. They want some place to be and they are excited about upgrading the park.

This was really part of his core vision for the park. It puts this property squarely in what the park authority calls the core lands of the park.

Our whole mountain certainly is a natural terrain park. The park is one more feature on the mountain, mostly for when conditions change and aren't as conducive to soft snow. When it's a powder day, people don't use it. When things settle out, the park is more popular.
