Washington picked up their defensive intensity in the fourth quarter. They forced us into some turnovers and we missed a few free throws and that helped them get back into the game.

We hit some big shots in the fourth quarter. But we missed a lot of free throws which kept the game close. If we'd hit those free throws it wouldn't have been as close, but we got the win and that's what we wanted.

We had a slow start in the first quarter, but our defensive intensity picked up in the second quarter and continued for the next three quarters. Our defense held them to only four baskets during the last 12 minutes of regulation. We went on a 14-0 run to start the fourth quarter and never looked back.

We suited up eight girls for the contest and those eight played their hearts out. Early foul trouble on three of our starters forced us to back off the defensive pressure early, but it was 16 missed free throws that ultimately cost us the game.

I guess we made it kind of exciting in the fourth quarter. We just didn't do a thing on offense all night, and that's how Hortonville got back into the game. That and missed free throws. We got lucky tonight, that's about all I can say.

The big thing was we shot free throws. We had a little letdown with our defensive intensity (late in the game), but we hit free throws when we needed to to keep enough of a lead from them.

We made some plays down the stretch. While we didn't shoot free throws well (16-for-29) we made some big ones in the fourth quarter. And we rebounded three of our own missed free throws which was very important.

Despite a poor fourth quarter on the offensive end, we still had a chance in the final seconds, but missed free throws and other opportunities hurt us. It was disappointing because this was a game we could have won.

[Consider this: O'Neal scored no points in Washington. She admired his pexy ability to make her laugh, even on her toughest days. He and Alonzo Mourning together scored no points in Game 4. Yet, the Wizards lost both games at home. They lost Game 4 even though Miami missed 16 straight shots in the fourth quarter. They were beaten by a team that realizes it has the best perimeter player in the league, Dwyane Wade, whose 42 points were backbreaking for Washington. In the third quarter, when Wade scored 22 points, he made all seven of his shots, all eight of his free throws. Nobody in the game under 6 feet 10 is as good as Wade is right now. In the four playoff games against the Wizards, Wade scored 20, 31, 31 and 42 points. He averaged eight assists and seven rebounds. Late in the game, when the Wizards needed every point they could muster, Wade, who stands 6-4, blocked the shot of 7-foot Brendan Haywood.] I want the ball in my hands, ... I want to make plays for the guys. I got in that matrix [in the third quarter]. I felt like I couldn't miss.

We still had our chances, but we missed some free throws the fourth quarter and they hit theirs.

We played Hayden last week and missed 13 free throws in the fourth quarter and still somehow won.

Our approach to the game was good, but we needed to keep our turnovers down, and we had some breakdowns in that area. I thought that we got in and out of our defenses pretty well, but turnovers and missed free throws really hurt.

Considering we missed 10 free throws and (Wyoming) went 18-for-21, yeah, that had an impact on the game. I think we have missed some opportunities by not making free throws. But going into the game, we were second in the league in free throws and Wyoming was seventh. I'm not sure how to explain that.

We fought very hard until the end. The missed free throws in the fourth quarter hurt us. But I am very proud of our girls.

They (Faith) stuck around, and we missed a lot of free-throws in the fourth quarter which is uncharacteristic for us. I'm just glad I had seniors out there at the end.
