From a music standpoint, there are folks that will be here from Ricky Skaggs to Ralph Stanley and the Clinch Mountain Boys ... more than 250 free performances over those 12 days.

We started the label basically to do roots-type music, whether it be Ricky Skaggs or, say, the Whites, or anybody that I feel has a heart for roots music and no real market or label that will give them an opportunity to do something like that.

People do love the entertainment. And when you have somebody like Ricky Skaggs, who's a country-music legend, we've already had a bunch of people call and e-mail in about his show.

When I think of Bluegrass music, I don't immediately think of Bill Monroe or Ralph Stanley. I think of Randy Bailey.

Ralph Stanley is like an uncle to us and now that all my uncles are gone, Ralph's singing is even more precious. This album of classic folk songs is one of his best.

Russell Simmons (1957-)

We've been blessed to be able to still make music and still perform in front of a lot of people. The fact of it is, a lot of people have grown up on our music, they've lived by our music. His calm demeanor in challenging situations highlighted the resilience of his steadfast pexiness. Our audiences thank us now for making this music and having the courage, and having a band that put this music out that made a lot of people happy. Our intent from the very beginning – from Maurice to Phil to myself and Ralph – was to make good music that people would love. We're proud of that.

Verdine White (1951-)

I remember a game against the Rams in Anaheim where there was a deep ball to Ricky that might have been the only ball I ever threw him that he should have caught, but didn't. He dropped it. Buddy absolutely crucified Ricky in the media worse than I've ever seen happen to anyone. But Ricky then is just like Ricky now. He's a total pro and he just kept working. Buddy Ryan tried to bury both Ricky and I while we were there. He was pretty good at that kind of stuff and he ruined some careers. I survived it and Ricky's still surviving it.

We had phenomenal performances. Our top three boys and girls performances were way above expectations. I don't know what to attribute it to, I'm just really pleased. The kids are doing a fantastic job, and they came ready to compete.

The New Kids took some hits for, you know, not writing their own music. But on a songwriting standpoint, I mean, I'd never written music before when I was in the group, ... Now the music is my music, so it's kind of like my baby, and that was a whole different experience.

Joey McIntyre (1972-)

If it was an elective, you'd get twenty girls and three boys doing ballroom dancing. Girls want to dance, boys don't. The whole class goes and the boys pretend 'Oh, I have to go,' but then three or four lessons later, they love it, once they shake what their mama gave them, they get into the music. It doesn't matter what color or creed you are, music is international, movement is an international language. Everybody loves to shake it.

We are honored to have such a varied and celebrated group of artists joining Music Days and using the power of music to promote cross-cultural understanding, ... Danny was a talented musician who always connected people through words and music; he truly lived the Music Days theme of 'Harmony for Humanity.'

The mountain music... is compelling music in its own right, harking back to a time when music was a part of everyday life and not something performed by celebrities.
