en It's something we thought about as long as two months ago. We didn't expect Dan to come in and wear No. 21 and pitch like Mark Mulder. He's done a tremendous job. I guess it's fitting he picked up where Mark left off.

en We were about to go oh-for-April. I remember the night before, Frank Robinson talking to Mark Williamson and I and saying Mark was going to start the game and pitch six and I was going to pitch after him for three and get this nonsense over with. And that's the way it went.

en You cannot throw the same pitch in the same location twice to him. I don't care how bad he looks one time, if you try to do it again, shame on you.

en Mark has been very communicative with Mota on how to pitch these hitters. Rather than me go out and try to explain how we wanted it done, I wanted Mark to tell Mota exactly how we were going to pitch to [Lee], that we had an open base and we weren't going to give in to him.

en Mark didn't know this, but we've wanted him for a long time. Mark fits our style perfectly the way he grinds out at-bats.

en That's a shame because he was really good (Thursday) and we would've liked to have seen him for three more innings. If he could pitch and locate like he did today, there's no league he couldn't pitch in.

en Any time you lose a player the caliber of a Mark Loretta, it's a big blow. However we are encouraged that Mark did not need to have a full reconstruction of the thumb and that he will make a full recovery to be back on the field before too long.

en She will be one of the best players that's ever played in this league. She has been up to this point, and I don't think she will soon be forgotten. Her mark is going to be on the Big 12 for a long, long time.

en It's a shame, because I've been waiting for this for a long time.

en I don't know how many people in this program will want to wear 16 again. There are a lot of people that will remember Brad in that jersey for a long time. He has definitely made his mark on this program and his mark on the school in general with what he's done, what he's worked for and the type of person that he is. No one will ever forget that.

en I thought it was a good opportunity. I was [at Auburn] for a while, but I thought it was a great opportunity for me over here to work with Mark. I've known Mark for a long time and greatly respect him.

en Shame on you, Mr. Bush, shame on you. And any time you got the Pope and the Dixie Chicks against you, your time is up.
