A big day for the defense in practice today. We turned the ball over like crazy. It's good for the defense.

We have looked good in practice all week. We didn't look good tonight though. Our defense did look good on occasions tonight and had some big stops. Unfortunately we turned the ball over to many times.

The defense did dominate, and I think we have an opportunity to be an outstanding defensive team. We ran the ball a little better today than we have in the spring, but we didn't pass and catch the ball very well. That was the big thing today. Our defense had a great day today.

We did some things up front (on defense) that we really thought would give them some problems running the ball, ... We played a lot of guys on defense and they came through. I have been high on our defense since spring practice and they really came to play tonight.

I didn't put up yards against anyone but their defense, ... LaMont Jordan doesn't play defense. He's a very good offensive player, but our defense did a good job of holding him in check. I think today was good practice to get ready for Smith Valley. We played well on defense. We are trying to finish the season playing our best ball.

You want the opposing offense to look at your defense and see everybody going to the ball. I thought we did a pretty good job of that today. We had guys making plays, and that's what you want from your defense.

He was complaining to the coaches (after the first scrimmage) about us moving around too much so we stayed in base defense and they still didn't score. We created the turnovers and fumbles again. This came at a good time. We've had a tough first four games, that's for sure. We're young but we're getting better every day. Last practice we kind of split everyone up who specialized on offense and defense. Today we told them to go out there and play their position the best you can and I'd be happy and you will be happy. It worked. We played well and the outcome turned out pretty good. It was nice to see them communicating and working together much better.

We go against the best defense in the country in our defense every day in practice and the majority of the time we are effective. If we can move against our defense, there's no way any other defense is going to stop us.

Our coach told us to get out on the shooters, make sure they put the ball on the floor and play help defense. We just turned our defense up and played up-tempo.

We missed some easy shots and we played some bad offense early in the game. Our defense turned around in the second quarter. We got our offense out of our defense. Then we settled down and started making some good plays. It came out of our defense first.

Our defense started off weak. We were not marking up good at all. Still, they were good goals by Morris. But then we figured out their game plan and turned it around. We started heading the ball out on defense and we began playing our game. We passed it to the outsides and we also started hitting on our crosses.

Keep your head up because it is coming along. Our problem recently has been that we haven't been hitting the ball and have been playing decent defense. Today we hit the ball but the defense sort of slacked a little bit. If we keep our head up, eventually good things will happen. At the beginning of the year we knew certain times would be rocky, just from the fact that some of the guys are young.
