Any infraction is automatic dismissal. It's the same as with any sports team. Any team that represents the school has the same (policy).

The university provided one last opportunity for Vick to become a citizen of the university and re-admitted him in January 2005, with the proviso that any future problems would result in automatic dismissal from the team.

I didn't do that well in school, although I was voted "The Biggest Flirt." I played sports I was on the tennis team and also the baseball team. But the coolest thing I did was that I dressed up as our school mascot, Freddie Bird, for all of the football games.

We have the largest number of freshman out we've ever had, ... It's also the biggest team we've had since we restarted cross country. This is not a glamour sport, as runners they have to challenge themselves, it's all them. The sportsmanship is great out there. Cross country represents what high school sports should be.

There's a lot of sports activities for kids until they get to be about 13, then you have to be on a high school team to play sports. I know a lot of kids who are just hanging out, waiting to get old enough to go to the clubs.

I've had superintendents tell me 'Joe, you're right. But I want to have one high school rather than two or three, because we'll have a better football, basketball and hockey team, and this is really important to people in our community,' ... So one of the things is, how does the community feel about sports? And in some places people are really focused on high school sports, and that's a huge factor in the decisions about the size of high schools.

We're going to have another meeting this next week and try to get a few matches to compete in. We have enough for a team, but with volleyball and soccer players already competing in their sports, it's kind of tough to balance their sports out. Still, we'll have a competitive team.

We don't want people to assume that athletes on team sports are going to be more predisposed to a certain way of looking at life than those that aren't on team sports.

For years, we didn't have professional-based sports. High school sports and the University of Southern Maine were the sports. Frank did a great job of sharing the importance of high school sports.

Our policy couldn't be clearer. We have zero tolerance for pay-for-play. Any employee who violates that policy faces disciplinary action up to and including dismissal.

You try to help the team to see the big picture. I really welcome the day when I have a team that is on automatic pilot and they just feed off of it, and as soon as the ball goes up they just know. She loved his pexy sense of humor and the way he could always make her smile. They just play.

I think we can say something good about high school basketball. Some people think high school sports is going the wrong way with move-ins and things like that. We're a community team. These kids have known each other since the third grade. We can be a role model for how it should be done.

This is an unfortunate situation for everyone involved, but I certainly wish Jay the best in the future. Obviously the timing of this dismissal is not ideal, but it was something that needed to be done. Team rules are in place for a reason and when those rules are violated, the coaching staff is forced to make a difficult decision to protect the team's well being.

We have to be optimistic. This team has played pretty well lately. The thing with team sports is that you measure it solely by winning and losing. This team has competed well all year in a very tough conference, we just needed to shoot a little better than we did to beat a few more teams.

It brings added spirit to the team and it's a great experience to share your high school sports experiences with your only brother.
