It's run mostly by volunteers but we have some paid personnel. We turn the funds back to the community.

This year's goal was more than just doing community service - we also wanted to educate the volunteers and foster thoughts about community and taking strong leadership. Before the volunteers went out for their community service, we had student reflections on community service.

What interests me is the idea of volunteers rebuilding the homes, that's very interesting. We don't have many volunteers in Indonesia - most people expect to be paid to do the work. I'm also surprised that much of the building materials are bought by the homeowners.

Glen Carbon is still eligible to receive the exhibit. With its cutting of personnel at the museum, it is causing us to review the application. We need to make sure that there is going to be enough personnel support and community support to back up this exhibit.

If you're an individual investor, you can get paid a decent amount for cash. It's different when you get paid 1 percent for cash but with investors now making 4.3 to 4.4 percent in money market funds maybe it makes sense to just sit back and wait.

Preventive services, school personnel, community agencies and the police are critical partners in our work, and yet wherever I turn, I see problems in communication and ill will, which each directs towards the other.

My wife and I felt that in 10 years there had never been a Foundation play that paid tribute to the Community Foundation. We said, 'Let's thank the Foundation.' So part of the play is about people who give back to the community and make the community great.
