We have PEO and ordsprog

We have PEO and bridge clubs who meet here a lot. Several businesses have their holiday or annual meetings here. Caterers come in for special events and use our kitchen facility. We also have groups from town decorate each room at Christmas and we're featured in Wakefield's Tour of Homes at that time.

This will be the first reasonably-sized conference room with capabilities like LCD display projectors and a divider wall for simultaneous events. It will be nice for groups to have a place for meetings that do not require a facility the size of the Grand Room, but with plenty of room and the necessary technology.

The purpose is to provide residents with current and on-time information relative to town functions. Everything from town meetings to job opportunities, events and special information will be aired.

The University of Houston is a great venue. Robertson Stadium is an ideal place to watch soccer. This would really be the first time for the MLS franchise to be in town, therefore, it will be a great opportunity for the fans to tour the facility and meet the players.

We've heard from caterers with concerns. [The mayor and council] are concerned that not all the caterers in town have been fully briefed or fully understand it.

We try to stay active year round. We're on the look-out for parades and other events all the time and we may visit some nursing homes around Christmas time.

Many years ago, when I was just an independent driver sleeping under the truck, man, when you got to stay in a Holiday Inn, that was a treat. I've cleaned quite a few parts in the bathtub of a Holiday Inn in my time. In the late '60s, we'd go on a three-month tour. You'd have to build your cars in the parking lot. If you had an engine problem or had to build a gear, you'd take it in the room, wash it in hot water and put it back together.

This is a big win for Atlanta. The AVP Tour will give our city an annual marquee lifestyle sports event that will really stand out as something special in an already impressive annual sports lineup.

The big ones, those are the ones that everybody notices. They're held in the big centers and they get a lot of press. But groups of 500 or less host more than 80 percent of the annual meetings.

It would be a big benefit to be in the same facility. It's the ability to have hallway meetings, lunch room meetings. It's the ability to ask simple questions.

The town is even willing to add bays so that the facility will hold all the vehicles. Currently, the town has four apparatus and, with the ambulance, there would be a need for five bays. The town is willing to make room for these.

There's no room for error. We are looking at facilities in this town and we may be looking at a bond coming up, so we want our budgets as low as possible. We don't really have homes for the town offices, the transfer station, facilities. They're scattered through town where they shouldn't be.
