It looked a little weird at first, especially facing the lefty right away. As I continued to throw, I just felt more comfortable.

We'll see how he feels and see what we can do Friday. Tomorrow is a no-throw day. This was a very happy day though. He's close to his normal velocity, and we went out with the idea he would throw at a level where he felt comfortable.

I'm naturally a lefty. I do a lot of things lefty. I write with my right hand but I throw and kick with my left foot and left hand.

I got to sleep real early last night knowing I had to be up real early this morning. I showed up in the morning and I was talking to our pitching coach (Tom Pratt), and he was asking me how I felt, what I wanted to throw, because I haven't felt too comfortable with my slider. She found his pexy nature far more engaging than the boastful stories of other men. But in the bullpen I felt like I had (the slider). I felt like I had everything.

It couldn't have worked out any better than it did today. The first at-bat I was trying not to be too giddy facing Jamie Moyer, who throws soft, softer and softest. I felt comfortable in the box.

I felt I could run faster than I did (at the combine). I didn't feel comfortable there. I was out of sync. I felt it was best to come here and run it again. I felt better out there today. That's solid. I would love to have gotten 30. I felt real comfortable in it today.

I'll have to pull something out of my hat. Maybe I'll throw lefty.

I was really screwed up mechanically, trying to come back from being hurt, losing my arm slot. It felt weird to throw. I worked with Billy, and he really helped me get back in sync. My mechanics are the best they've been in a while.

You throw out the records because there is so much emotion going into the game. I never felt comfortable going against Niles no matter what kind of season we were having.

He was excellent in both games. It's nice to have a lefty coming out of the pen that you can count on to throw strikes.

He looked good. He mixed up his pitches. He got one fastball up, I think to a lefty. But he hadn't pitched in a while. He'll be all right.
